- I bet you have questions about these methodologies. I'll try to address some of the questions that people ask me. While in a RACI session or mapping a swim lane chart. The most asked question is, when should I use RACI as opposed to swim lanes? My take is that RACI works best to clearly define who's responsible for specific task and who is accountable for the overall project or process. Just as important, RACI helps when you need to specify who needs to be consulted or informed at various stages of a project. Swim lane diagrams are super useful for visualizing processes, the flow of activities, and how different roles or departments interact within that process. They help in identifying inefficiencies, gaps, or redundancies in a process. Can both methods be combined? Yes.
