The Pencil tool

- [Instructor] Illustrator does have a few tools that are designed really to be drawn with manually, and for that the best advice I can give you I think, is to invest in either a drawing tablet or a pen display that you can draw directly onto. Drawing with a track pad can be done. Drawing with a mouse can be done, but neither are really optimal experiences. That said, the pencil tool does have a use beyond drawing, and you'll see that shortly. So here I have a very rough pencil sketch, which is on another layer just at the moment, and I have the pencil active. You can tap "N" on your keyboard to activate that tool. And one of the first things I want to do here is actually hit enter on my keyboard. You can also double click on the tool in the toolbox to access the options for this tool. Some tools do have additional options like this. So the first here is fidelity, which is how the stroke is interpreted.
