- [Instructor] Gradients can add a visual richness to your artwork, and can start to suggest form. And that's what we'll be looking at in this chapter. We'll cover off in this particular movie with linear gradients, some of the essential things that deal with all gradients. So let's go ahead and click on the blue rectangle or the blue shape, really that is at the back of this childlike illustration here, but we're going to improve it as much as we can. And then what I want you to do is look up to the left hand side of the interface at the toolbox and notice, hopefully, that the solid square is in front. Okay, that's said to have focus, right? So any command you give would actually be applied to that, and that's the fill. Just tap X for a moment and you'll see that the hollow square comes to the front and tap X again.
