- Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare? It's cliche, but it's a valuable lesson we can apply to igniting emotional engagement. If you're championing a project or a new initiative, it's up to you to make sure that the enthusiasm lasts beyond that starting line. So often we leave meetings where everyone's excited, we have a good plan, it's going to be great, and then we run into some challenges. It wasn't as easy as we thought. There are other important things to do, and it just kind of fizzles out with one or two champions sending, just following up on these emails until they give up. A big part of avoiding this annoying dance is being proactive on the front end. Like when we talked about being really thoughtful about who you engage, when, and having a clear ask, tapping into connection and meaning.
