- If you run a website that collects or distributes personally identifiable information, you'll want to make sure that you have a strong online privacy notice available to your users. Privacy notices are clear statements that inform users of your organization's privacy practices. Some of the common elements of privacy notices include disclosing the types of information that you collect and the purposes of your data collection, describing how and when you collect personal information, detailing any ways that you share information with third parties, disclosing the ways that you safeguard PII, informing users of your opt-in and opt-out procedures, and providing contact information for follow-up if the user has questions about the policy or wants to report a known or suspected privacy issue.
