- [Instructor] Once you've started collecting information from your users, you need to know that you can't just do whatever you want with this information. Many countries have laws about when and how you can collect personal information, how to securely store that data, and what you can do with the personal information. Please note that this video is not legal advice, just a broad overview of some of the laws you should be aware of. It's up to you to make sure you are following any appropriate laws and regulations. In the United States, data privacy is not highly regulated. However, there are a few things to be aware of. One that affects many websites is the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. It gives very strict standards on the collection of personal information from children under 13, including that you have to get permission from the child's parents before collecting any information.
