- [Instructor] Now that you've written your press release, you want people to read it, see it, and hear about it. Contrary to popular belief, your press release will not miraculously show up in front of reporters, the community, or prospective customers. You need to map out a strategy for distribution. One of the ways to distribute your press release is on a newswire. A newswire is a news agency service that sends out syndicated news copy, AKA your press release, to subscribers, also known as the media, by wire or by satellite transmission. That's a mouthful. Simply put, they distribute it to media organizations A little history lesson. Starting in the 1950s, newswires were invented to help journalists do their job more effectively, so that they could see the news of the day in a feed, so to speak.
