From the course: How to Read a Commercial Real Estate Appraisal
Letter of transmittal
Chapter 3. Transmittal, Summary, and Terms of Reference The letter of transmittal is an important early section of the report. It outlines basic property information as well as the estimated value, both of which are covered in extensive detail later in the document. The key questions that the transmittal letter should answer are, who is the appraiser and what firm do they work for? Who commissioned the report? Meaning, who is the appraiser's actual client? What is the purpose of the report? And who is its intended user or users? When was the completion or inspection date? And what is the effective date of the appraisal? The information you need in order to complete section one of the Real Estate Appraisal Checklist. Introduction can be found in the letter of transmittal.
