- When thinking about a new website or redesigning an existing one, a common place to start is to plan out the different sections. Website owners will often draft a list of pages that their site will require. A homepage, a contact page, an about page and so on. Knowing what sections you want, provide structure for developing and organizing the content. Listing the sections, or pages, of a website, builds a frame upon which everything else is put together. There are a few tools that can help with this task. I've seen people use index cards or post-it notes. They write the name of the website section or page on each card or sticky note and lay them out on the ground or on a wall. I've also seen people use spreadsheet software to do the same thing. Put the names of the website sections or pages in cells of the spreadsheet and move them around. Whether you go analog or digital with your planning, doesn't matter. Use…
