- Have you ever walked away from a puzzle or problem that had you stumped, only to find the answer was obvious when you returned? Or how about coming up with the perfect solution to a situation while doing something totally unrelated, like driving your car or taking a shower? Sometimes when we feel overwhelmed, the best thing we can do is to just break away for a little while. This can be especially helpful when we're dealing with a situation where we don't have a lot of control. If we can't take action in a way that's helpful, we can take our attention somewhere to rest and recharge our own battery for awhile. There are many ways to strategically disengage from the task at hand so that we're still being productive. Things like listening to music, going for a walk, talking to a friend or even watching a funny video can give us a break from trying so hard to figure it out.
