- According to research, associative thinking is a key trait of innovators. Innovators take unrelated concepts, smash 'em together, and combine them in new ways. Most people will see random items, but innovators spot the potential and make the connections. Those combinations lead to innovation. How does one do this? You ask. Great question. I've been practicing this myself for decades and in this video I'm going to break it down for you. Let's start with what associative thinking is. It's the process of taking information from different sources and making new connections with it. Put simply, it's connecting the dots.
