What work counts as project management experience?
- You need 36 months directing or leading projects within the past eight years to apply for the PMP exam when you have a four-year college degree. But PMI doesn't define directing and leading projects. Here's our take on what the work experience is that counts toward those 36 months. First, the experience you report has to be from working on a project. Remember, a project has a beginning and end, scope of work, and is performed to create a unique product, service, or result. Be sure to document this information about each project you report. Leading a project focuses on the people side. As a leader, you establish the direction for the project, clarifying the project goal and strategies for producing the desired outcomes.
