- The simple truth is that a team member isn't going to address an accountability problem if they don't know there's an accountability problem. So in this case, the goal is increasing awareness, helping them understand that accountability expectations haven't been met and underscoring the impact to the project. There are a number of ways to increase awareness, starting with the obvious. Tell them that you have a different expectation. The key here is specificity. It might sound like this, "Linda, I just wanted to check in "with you about the recent missed due dates "to ensure that you have the support that you need. "Obviously, the project timeline is very tight "and missed due dates have a trickle down effect "for the entire team, "so we want to minimize them as much as possible."
