- It's been my sincere honor to go on this head, heart and hand journey to belonging with you. If I could leave you with one message from this course, it's that creating a culture of belonging starts from within. The photo you see on the screen is my why and my start to this journey. That's me in my third grade class with Mrs. Carr and Mrs. McDermott, I'm that little brown dot in the middle of a sea of white faces. Being the only was a little tough because it made me question at a really young age, what was it that made me different from the other kids on the playground? But it also was a blessing because it made me curious about what made us the same. And what I've learned without a shadow of a doubt is that regardless of our differences, we all yearn for a sense of belonging.
