How can I create a film-look in After Effects?

- A rich color grade is often referred to as a film look. It lets you take relatively flat video and push the color space and other properties so it looks more like it was shot on a digital cinema camera or actual film. Let me show you a few of my favorite techniques in After Effects to achieve this. Here, we have two instances of a project. Here's the end state. What you'll notice is that the colors are rich, but that there's soft areas of focus and great highlights and shadows. Here's the much more plain video that was as shot. Well, let me break this down. What you'll see here are a few things in play. A filter to tweak, a mask to create a power window and then some blurs and glows that we can add as well as an overall color grade. Let's have a look.
