- [Instructor] They say that AI, artificial intelligence, is smart, but to engage those smarts, you must also be a smart user. Here I'm using ChatGPT in a web browser. It works like a search engine, though it understands questions as you would ask any expert. Who was the youngest president of the United States. The answer is in dialogue form. Rather than just show, Teddy Roosevelt, it presents the result of a dialogue. The youngest person to ever serve as president of the United States was Theodore Roosevelt, and it adds additional information such as, he became president at the age of 42 following the assassination of President William McKinley in 1901. The power here is with a complex query, something that may take you more effort to compile on a traditional internet search engine. (keyboard keys clicking) Who were the 10 youngest presidents of the United States? The system remembers your line of questioning so you can refine the results after their presented. For example, (keyboard keys clicking) put the list into a table. Here's the table. But say you want more information, again, you don't need to start over. Just continue with your conversation. (keyboard keys clicking) Sort the table by age. I could also sort the table by name or any column. Say that you need this information for a webpage you're creating, and don't copy it down and then write the page, have the AI do the work for you. (keyboard keys clicking) Show HTML code for the table. Here's a common way this type of output is used. (keyboard keys clicking) Write a Python program to output the table in HTML. At some point, the results may start to become iffy. Remember that this is a tool that leads toward a solution, not the solution itself. More work may be required. On the Bing search engine, Microsoft Copilot is the AI tool of choice. From the main Bing page, choose Copilot. I'll ask a question which builds toward the result I want right away. (keyboard keys clicking) Show a table of the youngest best actress Oscar winners by name, age, year, and motion picture title. Now this list is a little disappointing to me. I think it could be a little bit longer but then again, I didn't say it would be a little bit longer. This is the kind of results you can expect with AI. It may not be exactly what you want. Like ChatGPT, I can continue my work here. (keyboard keys clicking) Show the table in HTML code. And the table was output. It's basic HTML, and it won't look exactly like what was shown earlier, but it's close. It's enough for me to work with and it was the answer I requested. Like cribbing your homework from the internet. Remember that these AI tools aren't for the lazy. They assist and they guide, but they don't replace due diligence on your part. Use AI to help get you on your way, but it's up to you to confirm and refine the results.
