- Now that we've covered the foundations, let's talk about the project. In this project-based course, we'll tackle a real-world geospatial problem and solve it with spatiotemporal techniques. Imagine this. You work on the data team at Big Apple Bike Share Incorporated, a major bike share company in New York City, and you've been tasked with solving a pressing problem. Every morning, people in residential neighborhoods, like the Upper East Side and Central Park West, pick up their bikes from their local stations, and they ride to work in areas like the Financial District. By mid-morning, stations in residential areas are emptied out, and stations in the business districts are filled up. By the end of the day, this imbalance flips, and you face the same problem in reverse as everyone heads home. Your goal is to ensure that bikes are available when and where people need them.
