Inbox triage with daily email summaries
Everyone wants to automate busy work and boost productivity, things like auto replies, inbox summaries, e-mail triage and meeting notes with action items. Until now, we had to provide our Gmail credentials, Google Calendar credentials to third-party automation platforms like end-to-end. But Google's new Workspace Studio changes that. It is bringing all of these workflow automations into one place without having to share any credentials because this is by Google themselves. So let's see how we can automate our day with it. So I am on the main landing page which is studio.workspace.google.com and if you are a workspace user you have a workspace even like a startup plan it comes with starts off with the Google workspace startup plan and if I am in my gmail Inbox. On the top right, when I click on this icon, the Google Workspace Studio opens up from the right hand side. Here, I will see all the workflows that I want to automate. Currently, this is empty because this is a brand new Inbox. So, if I want to see templates which are some workflows that Workspace has created for you which you can activate for your apps. So Workspace Studio is a no-code automation platform by Google which allows you to create, manage, share your AI agents which are powered by Gemini 3. And you can automate all the workflows that use Workspace apps like Gmail, Calendar, Google Docs, Sheets, Meet, all of these. Let's see what we have on this page. At the top, I have this text input bar where I can describe what sort of tasks or workflows I want to automate. Great. Then we have a bunch of these templates that Workspace Studio team has created for us and we can just click on any one of these that we think is going to be valuable for us. So let's say I want a daily summary of all the unread emails. So if I click on this, this is the main configuration panel the canvas. Here in the middle I have these nodes which are called steps. This is at the top a starter step which is a trigger point how and when this particular workflow is going to get triggered. When will this run? Here I can have different types of starter steps. In this case we are using a starter step which is called on a a schedule. On the right hand side, I can see the configuration panel where I can decide what is the start date and time, at what frequency do I want to repeat this. So, let's say start date and time is 10th of January, this works and then we can choose a time from here, let's say 1.45 AM and every weekday, let's say daily. Ends one year, this is fine and if I look at the action step. Now there are bunch of these AI steps which we learn as we will progress. This is the action step. So the configuration panel again opens up. This is an AI step. You can see this is powered by Gemini model. So have Gemini summarize important 100 emails, time range for your summary, yesterday. So I can select let's say today and enter a prompt to generate that summary. So this is written by the Gemini team. You can obviously change this and have it create the summary in the format that you would like to consume. What's going to be the last step? So once this runs, it is going to notify me, send the summary to me in my Google chat. And if you see in this inbox, I have these variables. variables are nothing but results from previous These steps. So I can select on a schedule or start time. In this case summary of unread e-mail which is this particular step. So summary from my AI step this is being used summary of unread emails. Once done let's quickly run this entire workflow. I am clicking on test run here. Test run takes real actions it will send messages, update files, set up meetings. Great! I'll click on start. So we have on a schedule which has run successfully. This is the complete summary of the emails that I have and you can see in my inbox I have 200 emails and if I open up my google chat here you have get a daily summary of 100 emails and you can see here I've got the summary of the two emails that are present in my inbox. And that is how you can get daily summaries and automate your simple tasks. It will give you a daily brief every single morning. That's the first workflow that we have automated. Let's move on to the next.
