- [Instructor] The transition to a greener economy is creating new jobs while challenging traditional skills and existing occupations. The global commission on the future of work identified the greening of economies among the central transitions impacting the future of work. This transition is expected to create millions of jobs as countries adopt sustainable practices and clean technologies. This can only be achieved by retraining workers, upgrading the skills of current workforce, and providing the right skills to those entering the changing job market. According to the international labor organization, skill gaps are seen as a bottleneck in some key sectors, such as renewable energy, energy and source efficiency, renovation of buildings, construction, environmental services, and manufacturing.
