Identifying resource locations for availability

- Now let's talk about identifying resource locations for availability. So networking on Google Cloud is done with the virtual private cloud, the VPC. And there are a couple of things that are different in Google Cloud's VPC when you compare it to other cloud providers. So first of all, it is a global resource as opposed to being regional as it usually indicates in other cloud providers. VPCs are logically isolated from each other. That's kind of the same as the others as well. And then the VPC consists of regional subnetworks. So these subnetworks or subnets are the ones that are regional in scope. Also, the subnets are the ones that have an IP address range or IP address ranges associated to it. The VPC itself doesn't actually have an IP address range. It's really a purely logical virtual container or construct where the subnets live and the subnets are regional and have IP address ranges. The VPC is a global construct.
