Finalize your story

- Once you've identified the stakeholders you're going to get perspectives from and iterate on your story, the story will change. Let me walk through what that can look like. Maybe I start with an idea of we should do this idea because Point 1. And I go to my manager and he says, hey, that's a great idea, but you should also think about Point 2. And my story changes, and it goes, here's the idea, Point 1 and Point 2 as my supporting points. Then I go talk to a smart peer, and I say hey, here's my great idea, and it's Point 1 and Point 2. And she may offer the perspective of isn't Point 2 more important than Point 1? Shouldn't you talk about that first? And my story changes. And then I start speaking with key stakeholders in Finance, and HR, and IT, and I ask them what concerns do you have? And they offer a bunch of concerns, and they show up under Point 1 and Point 2. And yes, some of those concerns may be irrelevant to this idea. And I note them, and I set them aside. And the story…
