- I was recently at a party when a fellow guest asked me, what did I do, when I said Scrum, he responded, "are you a Scrum master?" Scrum Master is by far the most famous accountability in Scrum and has driven a multimillion dollar industry. Let's see what a Scrum master really is. The Scrum guide says The Scrum master is accountable for two things. First, the Scrum team's effectiveness. This means how good they are at delivering valuable increments and making progress towards the product goal. The next, Scrum Master is accountable for establishing Scrum as it's defined in the Scrum guide. That means helping everyone in the Scrum team, stakeholders, and the organization "get" Scrum, to ensure that there's no confusion, and the Scrum team can be supported in using Scrum. Using their knowledge of Scrum, coupled with many other skills can help transform a team that struggles into one that delivers value to every sprint.
