From the course: Getting Started with PCI 4.0 Compliance
What you should know
- [Instructor] This course does assume a baseline of knowledge on why any organization has to follow PCI compliance in the first place. The course will use terminology that's common to PCI compliance, and in some situations, only really relevant to PCI. If you're not particularly familiar with credit cards and securing the payment process with PCI controls, or you would like a quick refresher, I've authored a short course on LinkedIn Learning called Learning Secure Payments and PCI. This course will give you a decent level of understanding on various parts of the payment process and how and when PCI compliance started up. Basic topics include how credit card payments get from the point of purchase to your bank account, the key differences between payments taken via online means and physically in a store, the basics of the PCI standards, and the basics of tokenizing credit card numbers. I've also authored a course called PCI 4.0 First Look which deals specifically with the differences between the long standing 3.2 version of PCI compliance and this version 4.0, which came out in 2022. It contains a brief overview of PCI compliance as a refresher. This PCI 4.0 First Look course is going to be most useful to those of you already very familiar with PCI but wanting to know about the key differences between the versions. If you're comfortable with the concept of secure payments and payment card industry standards and are ready to learn about working towards compliance, then let's get started.
