- I'm often asked about how to get a seat at the table, mostly by women, people of color, those seeking new job opportunities, those fresh out of college, and so many others trying to crack the code of understanding what it takes to simply be noticed, validated, and invited to the table. When asked this question, I hear the frustration, disillusionment, and disappointment in their voice. And not only do I hear it, I understand it. And I relate to it because I've asked the same question. Unfortunately, there are some misconceptions and myths about those who want a seat at the table. Here are three I've often heard. Why should we lower our standards just to allow more women and minorities at the table? They should earn it like everyone else has.
