- Well, congratulations, you've made it to the end. Before we go, here are the seven golden rules for using AI in legal practice. Rule one, nothing confidential in ChatGPT. You should never put confidential information into ChatGPT, or any of the other public AIs, because the data you enter will be processed or stored by external servers beyond your direct control. ChatGPT cannot absolutely guarantee privacy, or prevent future policy changes or breaches. It's like email or social media. Once the information is out, you can't fully take it back. Treat ChatGPT like a smart intern with a gossip problem. Rule two, beware the hallucinations. AI sometimes makes things up, with footnotes and with confidence. ChatGPT sometimes wrong, but never in doubt. Always, always verify the output. Rule three, be transparent. Let clients, colleagues, and stakeholders know you're using AI.
