- [Instructor] One of the things that makes large language models so versatile is that they can initially be trained as a general purpose model and then fine tuned for a specific purpose. This is known as transfer learning. At a high level, we can understand transfer learning by imagining how dogs are trained. Often you train your dog to obey basic commands such as sit, stay, and walk. These commands are normally sufficient for everyday life and help your dog become a good canine citizen. However, if you need a special service dog such as a hunting dog, a guide dog, or a search and rescue dog, you add special training such as scent detection, tracking, public etiquette, and more advanced commands tailored to the specific tasks required.
