What to automate, augment, or leave alone

Once you have an AI strategy, you need to make choices. Which tasks should AI automate? Which tasks should AI augment? And which should remain largely human-led? This is one of the most important leadership decisions in any AI strategy. Automation makes sense when a task is repetitive, rule-based, low-risk, and does not require much human judgment. Examples might include summarizing standard documents, routing requests, generating routine reports, or extracting information from forms. Augmentation is different. This is where AI helps people do their work better, faster, or with more insight. It might help a lawyer review documents, a marketer generate campaign ideas, a doctor summarize patient information or a manager prepare for difficult conversations. In these cases AI supports the human, it does not replace the human. Then there are tasks you may choose to leave alone or you approach very carefully.
