Generative AI creates enormous opportunities, but it also introduces risks that leaders cannot ignore. The first is data privacy. If employees paste customer records, contracts, financial data, or confidential information into the wrong AI tools, they may expose sensitive information without realizing it. The second is security. AI tools can create new entry points for attackers, especially when they're connected to company systems, data and workflows. With AI agents the risk increases because the system may be able to take actions, use tools, access files, update records and trigger processes. AI can also help criminals create convincing phishing emails, fake identities, malicious code as well as automated scams and attacks. Third is accuracy and reliability.
