Incorporate adaptive learning paths

Have you ever been leading a training and things aren't going to plan? Maybe the learners aren't comprehending the material or you're losing your audience's attention. Well imagine being equipped with the tools to handle this. Hello Adaptive Learning Path. An adaptive learning path is kind of like having an in case of emergency button. It's something to rely on to adapt to your learner's needs as they arise. In a few steps, you can create an adaptive learning path to keep your learners engaged and on the right track. Gamification for different learning styles is the first step. This means having activities planned or on deck that will appeal to all learner types. Now, I know there's a lot to learn about different learning styles that we won't be able to cover in one lesson. So I encourage you to deep dive when you have the time. But I do suggest you assess learner types before training to ensure the best outcomes. When you have a learning point that just isn't quite sticking. Adapting your gamification based on real time effectiveness will allow space for success. If I encounter a situation where a group isn't understanding the point or the game rules are just a little too difficult, I resort to my number one rule. Keep it simple. Go back to the root of the material and just keep it simple. Learners have a wide range of abilities, and from time to time it feels like one learner is holding a group back. I love to take this frustration and turn it into an opportunity by creating a fun experience for all learner types. I utilize tools like breakout rooms, review games and supplemental materials to keep everyone on track and enjoying the experience. When you know how to create an adaptive learning experience, you can support learners as their needs change and as roadblocks arise. I challenge you to think about your last training experience and brainstorm one way you could have overcome a learner issue so that next time you'll be able to handle anything that comes your way and press that in case of emergency button whenever you need.
