- Games are fun. If you can find a way to include them in the learning experience, you could increase learner engagement and retention of content ten-fold. In this type of gamification, called "Game-Based Gamification," the learner is presented with a short game to play. They play the game for a moment, and then a question appears. The learned answers the question, earns points if they're correct, and then the game continues. The entire experience lasts less than five minutes. The mini game is not related to the content being taught at all. Rather, the game is a method of gaining a learners attention and clearing her head to enable her to more easily absorb the content. The mini games are based on commercially available casual games, such as Breakout, Bejeweled, Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja.
