- [Instructor] The first thing you'll encounter in Tableau is this data pane. Now, this is your chance to connect to a specific tab of your Excel file, make changes to your default data types, and filter on rows and columns that you'll want to use. So you see right here your very top option is to connect to Microsoft Excel. Go ahead and click on that. And you should have saved your class materials into the data sources folder. Now, this is the same for Mac and PC. Click on your Excel file, and open. All right, so now that you've connected to your Excel file, Tableau is displaying the data connection pane. You see the name of your Excel file up here. That's how you know it was loaded correctly. And down below are the sheets of your Excel file. So you know, as the analyst, that the data behind this dashboard comes from the Data tab of your spreadsheet. Drag that here. And now Tableau has taken the data that was on…
