Getting data from an open workbook
- So with Power Query, you can import and clean data from an external source like a CSV file or another database, but a lot of people don't know that you can actually clean data that's already in a workbook. For example, I have this Excel file open called 01_02 SalesData, and you can see this looks very much like the CSV file we used earlier, but it's already in an Excel file. Can we clean this data up? We sure can. First we need to tell Power Query which data to clean up, and to do that, I'm going to select all of this data, including the blank rows, and I happen to know that the very last row of this data is row 215. So I'm going to go down there to 215, then I'm going to click the cell J215. That's this one here, and then to make sure I select all of this data up and to the left, I'm going to press control shift home, and that will make sure I select all of this data, including the blank rows.
