Create a basic Excel PivotTable

- [Narrator] Let's create a basic PivotTable. I want to find out how many were sold in each category here in column G. I have my line item transactions and each one has a quantity sold. Click anywhere in your dataset. Change to the insert ribbon tab and click PivotTable here on the left. Excel will automatically select the data range for you. Click OK and you now have a new sheet. Your original dataset is still intact here in this order sheet. That's never going to change. Now you can just start dragging the fields to the areas below to create your PivotTable. I'll drag ProdCategory to the rows area. Instantly my categories appear in the sheet. I'll drag Quantity to the values area. Now I can very easily see how many of each category I've sold.
