- [Instructor] Sometimes you will look at a formula in an Excel workbook and think that the result just doesn't look right. In this movie, I will show you how to evaluate an Excel formula step by step so that you can hopefully identify any errors that have come up. My sample file is 06_02_Evaluating, and you can find it in the Chapter 6 folder of the Exercise files collection. In this workbook, I have a set of values. I have my sales revenue in B3. Sales count in B4. Monthly profit in B5, and then average profit for sale, which is the goal for the calculation on this worksheet. However, the first thing that I will notice is that if I multiply five by eight, I should get 40. And that would indicate that I'm not actually calculating the monthly profit. In fact, I'm finding the average sale value. And in fact, if I click cell B7, that is what I'm doing. I am dividing total sales by the sales count, when in fact, I want to calculate profit.
