- [Instructor] You will use lots of different functions in your Excel worksheets, but two of the most useful are sum and average. They operate as you would expect, calculating the sum and average of a series of values, but I would like to show each of them to you in turn so that you will have a greater appreciation of how they work. The sample file I'm using is 02_01_Sum, and you can find it in the Chapter02 folder of your exercise files collection. In this workbook, I have sales broken down by month for two calendar years: 2024 and 2025; that's what the CY stands for, and I also have places to calculate totals and find the average. I'll start by showing you how to enter in individual values, and this is the slowest way to create a formula; I don't recommend doing it, but I do want you to know that it's an option. So I'll click in cell F4, type in equal sign, and then sum followed by left parentheses. And I can type in the values for January to March of 2024, so it would be 1033, then…
