Conditional color formats
Color coding is a fast way to communicate the significance of numbers and custom number formats that use conditional color rules can be applied where conditional formatting can't, like in charts. Let's take a look. Earlier, we used symbols to format the change column in this table and we can take it one step further with color coding or "ctrl + 1" to open the format cells dialog box and I'll edit the existing format to add color coding rules. So we surround them with square brackets. So I want the positive value to be blue and the negative to be red. You can also add a color for 0 values, but I'll leave you to experiment with that. I'll click "OK". Now I've chosen blue and red because these comply with accessibility guidelines as opposed to the more conventional green and red, which not everyone can easily distinguish.
