- Insurance companies rely, not only on writing smart policies, but also on effectively managing their investments, and Excel can help us to do that. I'm in the 04_05 Begin.xlsx file. Now one key task when you're running an investment portfolio is assessing the quality of the folks that you have managing your money for you. In a lot of cases, that might mean subadvisors, but it could also mean mutual funds, it could mean hedge funds, it could mean a variety of external professionals. So, let's go through and see how we can assess our own performance internally, or the performance of any external advisors. And to do this, I'm going to rely on two different models.
