- [Instructor] Using logic and data validation in Excel can be a powerful asset. For example, when data is transferred from one system to the next, how important do you think the value of the employee ID will be? When we transfer data from system to system, often rules like text length can kick something out of a process. When this happens, there's usually two types of outcomes. One is that only good data makes it in and then you have to figure out what didn't make it. Or no data goes in and the process is on hold until the data is corrected. So let's explore the custom option using logic and a function in data validation. Our employee ID, well, it has business rules that define it. It begins with a single letter. It's then followed by five numbers, and it's a total of six characters in length.
