Security culture within an organization is something I had a hard time grasping when I first started out. I thought it was simple. The CSO sets the tone for the security culture of the organization. But this isn't always true. Security culture can be completely different from the overall culture of the company. You can have a company that claims to be fast-paced problem solvers arriving at solutions quickly, but then you might join the organization and find that security isn't prioritized. Security initiatives move slow, and security leaders are constantly met with obstacles and roadblocks.
