- [Instructor] We've already spent some time using the pattern tool but in this movie, I want to go over a few of the controls and demonstrate what they do and how they affect creating your pattern design. So let's jump into it. Here's a pretty complex pattern. I did all my drawing to figure out my repeat before I move to digital but because I'm working out my drawing and refining those shapes, I know exactly what shapes I want to create inside of Illustrator. And that helps your creative process for building your vector art. I also have the bounding box to establish where the repeat when it goes off on the right, comes in on the left, top and bottom as well. Now I should point out with guides. If you prefer using guides, you can drop guides and that can serve as your bounding box but you can't bring guides into the pattern tool. It's going to cause problems. So I would stick with using an actual rectangular box…
