- A simple continuous improvement is what many Agile teams go after. A simple continuous improvement is achieved through retrospectives in the popular scrum practice. The retrospective is a ceremony in the scrum practice where the team decides which improvement or improvements the team needs to do in the next iteration. There is no guidance other than the team's experience and exposure they have. The probability of getting the next improvement correct is probably less than 30%. Typically, when you're using a scrum practice, it starts off well as there is a new way of doing things. Scrum is a popular practice in Agile and it is very easy to adopt. Probably, that's why it is popular. However, if you're using a scrum practice, the improvements last for a certain initial period and then it plateaus. It is a steady straight line. In fact, some scrum purists suggest that you should not tailor anything in the practice, but then if you're not doing self-improvement, it is not an Agile team…
