The marketing funnel
- You're going to hear the word funnel a lot in marketing, sales funnels, purchase funnels, inbound funnels. Well, they all ultimately boil down to the same idea, the journey a customer takes. And it's super helpful to picture this journey as you build your marketing plans. So a marketing funnel is really just a way to visualize how someone goes from not knowing you at all to becoming a happy customer. Now, I want you to imagine a funnel shape. It's wide at the top and narrow at the bottom because lots of people enter at the top, but only a small number make it all the way through to the bottom where they purchase. Thus, the funnel shape. It's pretty natural that not everyone who hears about you will buy from you. A super common way to break down this funnel is what we call the AIDA model, and that's AIDA.
