- Now we're going to discuss the different types of evaluations to help you understand which types of evaluation should be performed in a data science project. A needs assessment looks at what problem is the data science project trying to solve? A good needs assessment leads to a clear identification of the opportunities. In a typical needs assessment, we seek to define the problem, assess the problem's extent, and define who is expected to be impacted by the intervention. In practical terms, a needs assessment for our Fraud Application Prevention Program would look to see what models and tools are currently in place to prevent fraud applications? Which products and customer segments have the most fraud application losses, and what are the issues that must be addressed to improve fraud detection?
