- [Instructor] While a well-tuned incident response system is a huge asset to an organization, it can be hard to get going, especially if others don't recognize its importance. Here's some implementation challenges that I've seen over the years and some tips for addressing them. Often, initially an org just doesn't understand why they need a process and they can't just have everybody jump on the problem. It usually becomes obvious after a couple times that this is causing a lot of trauma when an incident comes, but you can help make that visible by keeping metrics and holding retrospectives to show things like how much time was wasted on the way to resolution, or how many engineers were disrupted from their work when just a couple could have been. Work closely with upper management. To be blunt, the higher the level of manager, the more they think the rules don't apply to them. They'll skip your training, then during an incident, they'll backdoor communication paths, interrupt…
