- We turn now in search of practical means to recognize and respond to the affective states of our learners. This is something you've probably been wondering about, especially as you may also be thinking about the importance and difficulty of adapting just the content to learner's needs. Perhaps thinking content adaptation may even be more important, but I'm definitely acknowledging that learning experiences need flexibility in multiple dimensions to be truly individualized. As we become more sophisticated with educational technology and look to the future, I have no doubt that e-learning will morph into something of an intelligent mentor. Perhaps quite soon, as both practicality with today's artificial intelligence and our understanding of learning advance, we will know how to best nurture learning.
