Whether your business wants to leverage customer data to make tailored recommendations or build new machine learning models, you can't achieve any data-based goal without a plan to get there. You also can't change everything at once. If your data governance council wants to succeed, you'll need to choose a project that the business cares about. To keep your data governance council focused on the right tasks, choose one specific process that you're trying to improve, and add every single step it takes to currently complete that process no matter how small. Your goal is to show all the work needed to complete one specific process. Your end result will be the blueprint for the step that you'll take next. As you document each step per process, be honest above all else.
