Tuning STP topology

In this lesson, we're going to talk about how you could tune your spanning tree topology. Now one of the key things that you want to start off with is where do you place your root bridge. So you typically want to place that on a core switch that's going to minimize the number of hops from one edge switch to another. So typically this might be where you have your layer 2, layer 3 boundary, but that's not necessarily a requirement. Now, once you kind of have a general idea of where you want to place your root bridge, it's always good to know how to verify it's placed accordingly. So with that, we need to look at how you identify where the root bridge is placed.
