Discovering OSINT data in the dark web
- [Instructor] The dark web is being used more and more for illegal activity by cyber criminals. However, it's also becoming easier to access for security professionals. As an offensive security professional performing OSINT, we have to be able to navigate the dark web and extract relevant information relating to our target. But the dark web is crawling with illicit activity like drug markets, malware for sale, hackers for hire, and stolen credit card numbers. So my preference is to get any relevant information I need from the dark web and get out as quickly as possible. There are a few tools that you can use to help extract and analyze information on the dark web for you, so you don't have to linger any longer than necessary. An important thing to know about the dark web is that it isn't indexed by search engines or even accessible with standard web browsers, making it more challenging to access and find the information…
