- Now that you know your executive's preference for the level of detail you provide, it's time to consider how best to manage this preference. Pause this video and pull out your guidebook you downloaded from the exercise file. Jot down notes as you follow along. If the executive prefers high level information, here are some strategies to influence your executive. Prepare a high level outline with goals. This executive probably won't want a full report, especially in the beginning of the project. Keep the conversation at the 50,000 foot level. Discuss outcomes and results. And move through the conversation quickly and efficiently. On the other side of the continuum, managing a detailed executive is different.
