Why a framework?

- If you remember, in the introductory lesson of this course we talked about why decision science is a team sport. Given that there are so many different skills that a person needs to have command and knowledge of to be making effective decisions, it's truly impossible to go at it alone. Today's video goes into detail about how having a framework not only helps you guide better decision-making for yourself and in your organization, but also how it helps combat this problem of sometimes having to compensate for missing skills. First, it makes sense to talk about what we mean by the word framework. A framework in this context means the ability to follow a series of predefined steps that have very clear instructions and expectations. The absence of a framework would mean that anyone in your organization, including you, would be able to decide how to implement decision science however they see fit. Probably a bad idea.
